Celtic war trumpets

… and sousaphones.

What I don’t understand about the Celtic battle trumpets/carnyxes found (Digital Medievalist: Scéla > Yahoo) in the Corrèze is that surely if they are played vertically the musician will eventually drown in the condensation. I know a man who almost died thus, trapped in a sousaphone, although he did walk into a swimming pool.
