If the idea of ending the public sector’s two-tier {job-for-life} vs {let’s-see-how-many-students-sign-on-in-September} spiel was anything but bullshit designed to fool Germans, then maybe someone will explain to me why what is probably Barcelona’s most prestigious art school is kicking out all its (young) one-year-contract teachers in order to optimise (elderly) funcionario workloads, and giving on-request multi-year extensions to retiring funcionarios. (Further details available for British etc art schools looking for highly skilled, enthusiastic staff. Check out Charles Butler on the cost of eating one’s young, to which I would add that if young people are to buy clothes they need young designers.)
