Note
Teacher training college founded in 1858 in response to a shortage of trained teachers in Wales in the 1840s. Created through the efforts of the British and Foreign Schools Society and Sir Hugh Owen, it was funded through £11,000 in subscriptions and £2,000 from the state. Temporary accommodation was used until 1862. Expansion and admission of women in 1908. Purchase of the splendid George Hotel after WWI, but where George and Jonah lived and studied I do not know. The College became part of University of Wales Bangor in 1996.
