Emigration date from death notice. TTA suggests (A Welsh Story) that hunger may have been a cause. Thomas followed the author John Edwards, born 1806 at Llanuwchllyn, who emigrated to Utica aged 21 ("Notable Welshmen"). The poet John Davies/Ioan Idris (1821-90) came out in 1842. The 1840 US census lists 4 Thomas Jones as head of family at Utica, but funeral piece doesn't mention a family. Good piece about the Welsh of Utica: https://www.genuki.org.uk/big/wal/Archives/NLWjournals/Settlers
