Gramps ID E0448
Date between 1832 and 1847
Place Utica, Oneida County, New York State
Description Emigration date from death notice. TTA suggests (A Welsh Story) that hunger may have been a cause. Thomas followed the author John Edwards, born 1806 at Llanuwchllyn, who emigrated to Utica aged 21 ("Notable Welshmen"). The poet John Davies/Ioan Idris (1821-90) came out in 1842. The 1840 US census lists 4 Thomas Jones as head of family at Utica, but funeral piece doesn't mention a family.
