Residence [E0448] between 1832 and 1847 Utica, Oneida County, New York State Emigration date from death notice. TTA suggests (A Welsh Story) that hunger may have been a cause. Thomas followed the author John Edwards, born 1806 at Llanuwchllyn, who emigrated to Utica aged 21 ("Notable Welshmen"). The poet John Davies/Ioan Idris (1821-90) came out in 1842. The 1840 US census lists 4 Thomas Jones as head of family at Utica, but funeral piece doesn't mention a family. Good piece about the Welsh of Utica: https://www.genuki.org.uk/big/wal/Archives/NLWjournals/Settlers 7 8
Death [E0049] 1/6/1847 Utica, Oneida County, New York State After 15 years abroad he decided to visit his family, perhaps to get married or perhaps because he felt he was dying. He was taken ill at Syracuse and returned to Utica, where he passed at the house of Mrs Sarah Parry - conceivably a Llanuwchllyn connection. 9a 10 2a
Burial [E0817] 1847 Utica, Oneida County, New York State OM Edwards notes that he is commemorated on his parents' grave in Llanuwchllyn. 4
