What does the Italian prhase “minga la fach” mean???
I know I’m not spelling it right.
June 23rd 2008 02:35
Southern italian (Napoli?)
minga = minchia = cock
fach = facia = face
minga la fach = cockface, or more worryingly “cock the face!”, where “cock” is used as an imperative verb.
Where exactly did you hear this?
June 23rd 2008 02:57
Or maybe “minga da faccia”
milanese minga (nothing) da (from) faccia (face)
“Shut your face”
(I’ve never heard this said, but it might exist and would sound a bit like what you wrote)

I know this is ages old but I’ve heard this my entire life from the Italian Americans in Rochester NY.

Believe Don I’m from upstate NY I lived in Rochester for ten years in my lifetime a lot of experiences good and bad never a true Italian not far away anywhere and the Italian culture still runs deep and loyal and when they talk about they’re history they do not embellish they are very proud I am in touch with many myself they are closer to family than my own never been failed Italian pride is always consistant no matter they’re mood I found this researching referencing for a curious friend banter on :-) Don congratulations for making it in Monroe county the good ol 585 should be 716 but it is history

Don and Tamara, I myself also grew up in the 585, in Canandaigua. I heard it all the time, so many Italian families. I now live in Alexandria Virginia, moved here back in October of 2014. I say minga fach alot, and no one here knows what I am saying, or get hat it is used as a phrase for many things. Lol

To Tamara et al I grew up in Northern NY near Watertown with a large collection of Italian American friends. We always used to say Minga Fatch and I personally thought it was akin to Mother-F****r but I am wrong on that translation I see.

Yep, grew up in the finger lakes and heard this lots as a kid…I thought it was minga da fach…It was said in exasperation rather than calling someone a name, or at least that is what it seemed…

Grew up in Irondequoit, NY and heard both “Mingia Fach” and “Mingia le Fach” often. I think they have different meanings that are both very useful n everyday life :)

I lived in Oswego and heard it from locals in the farmer stylized expression/dialect “Minker!” which was an exclamation roughly equivalent to “Wow!”

bff is sicilian and it literally translate to like piss on the face because minga is a Sicilian slang for piss
I am Italian and MinGa La fach means suck my dick
Thanks Sarah!
born and raised Hornell area. my relatives generally just said “MINGA!!!”
LOL
I’m 30, my mom said it her whole life. Rochester New York. We thought it was like “wtf” or “wth”.
Yep, from Spencerport and heard it daily!
My husband is Sicilian, and he said it means Fuck You!!!
No. It has 2 separate meanings depends on what location you are in
1) minga loosely translated means urine or “piss.”
2) fach means face
From Northern Italy means you have a “piss face”
If you add “la” between them, it then turns into “cock face.”
Have to love the Italian. The words here sound much worse.
See Jennifer Cattier
I too am from Rochester NY lol my brother is Italian and I grew up hearing him say mingia fach a lot. Must be upstate NY slang for an Italian saying .
I came here trying to get a translation because I said it the other day and my husband was like, wtf does that mean? I am also from Rochester and this thread had me hollering!
