.These two days viz. Monday and Thursday June 22 and 23, 1674 I have been at two as solemn funerals as ever I was in all my life, the former day, Mr. Bayly’s wife, at Morley, who had been down in a consumption 10 weeks, the latter Joshua Stansfield’s wife [Martha Sharp, sister of Abraham] who died in childbirth June 21 and the child with her, whom I saw laid in one coffin, the child in her arms, as though it were asleep, an affecting sight, sad for relations, Lord sanctify it to all.
