Gordon Stowell. 1929. The History of Button Hill. London: Victor Gollancz.

The author of the photostat copy I have is anonymous, but Stowell (1898-1972), a journalist, is he. It appears to be a roman à clef, in which Button Hill is Chapeltown, and Fleece, Leeds; Chris Nickson says it is the first Leeds novel. It’s pretty good, and there are several things I’d like to include, but who owns the rights? Get it: All sources.
