At Barnsley, in company with Mr Wordsworth, of New Laithes, who shewed us a bullet beat flat as a half-crown by hitting against the wall, shot at his servant in the malt-house, by some persons which were supposed to have a design to rob the house. It had gone through his hat behind.

To facilitate reading, the spelling and punctuation of elderly excerpts have generally been modernised, and distracting excision scars concealed. My selections, translations, and editions are copyright.
