- 17 February 1812: Leeds businessmen meeting at the magistrates court act against the authors of the first successful Luddite attack in Yorkshire, at the Oates, Wood, and Smithson works at Oatlands, Woodhouse Carr
- 7 May 1818: London merchant Abraham Dixon writes to the Prince Regent requesting a royal warrant for Leeds manufacturer William Hirst’s superfine cloth
- 15 December 1824: Joseph Aspdin, bricklayer of Hunslet (Leeds), submits the process description for his patent for “artificial stone,” which he calls “Portland cement”
- 3 February 1825: The last great festival at Bradford for Bishop Blaize, the wool-combers’ patron
- 16 November 1827: John Nicholson, “the Yorkshire Poet,” an “uncouth clownish-looking man,” appears at Bow Street charged with creating a disturbance at Drury Lane
- 5 March 1829: Henry Burton of Hotham tells a rowdy public meeting at Beverley to petition parliament against Catholic emancipation and preserve “the Protestant constitution”
- 7 May 1831: In a spoof letter to the new and liberal William IV, a Sheffield metalworker expresses, in dialect, his hopes for the Reform Act and the election then underway
- 7 September 1837: Mary Frances Heaton is gaoled at Doncaster for a breach of the peace and later sent to the West Riding Pauper Lunatic Asylum
