Aka Henry Bolingbroke, King of England 1399-1413, son of John of Gaunt, Duke of Lancaster (third son of Edward III), and Blanche of Lancaster, first English ruler whose mother tongue was English since the Norman Conquest, faced a number of rebellions, including Owain Glyndŵr, the last Welsh Prince of Wales, and the English knight Henry Percy (Hotspur), killed in the Battle of Shrewsbury in 1403.
