I love taking tourists to the massive Chinese distribution centres in towns around Barcelona (check ChinaCity.es if you need help understanding the future of Spanish manufacturing), which sell wholesale to all comers with roughly 50€ in their pocket and reasonably impressive tax documentation. The assumption that European men are slender, attractive and extremely camp may require some revision, even for the Barcelona market.

For reasons we needn’t necessarily go into here, Chinese textile marketing into Europe uses native body types, however idealised, unlike old-style marketing of European and north American products to Africans. Are glocalisers by definition bodysnatchers?
