FC Barcelona: Buy the entrance now without tails

A poster at the Camp Nou footy museum reminds the public that neither evening dress nor cloven hooves are required for entry in their earthy Paradise:

This gem arrives via CFM, who used to blog about language here and here, and who wonders about the real state of Barça’s finances if they can’t afford 50€ for a translator. Any beers purchased via the donate button (sidebar) will go to him for forwarding to the photographer.

FC Barcelona (4): Futbol Club Barcelona), commonly known as Barcelona and familiarly as Barça, is a professional football club based in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. Founded in 1899 by a group of Swiss, English and Catalan footballers led by Joan Gamper, the club has become a symbol of Catalan culture and Catalanism, hence the motto "Més que un club".

Föcked Translation (414): I posted to a light-hearted blog called Fucked Translation over on Blogger from 2007 to 2016, when I was often in Barcelona. Its original subtitle was "What happens when Spanish institutions and businesses give translation contracts to relatives or to some guy in a bar who once went to London and only charges 0.05€/word." I never actually did much Spanish-English translation (most of my work is from Dutch, French and German) but I was intrigued and amused by the hubristic Spanish belief, then common, that nepotism and quality went hand in hand, and by the nemeses that inevitably followed.

  1. This one is so cute.

But why do they call it "Nou Camp"? Fucking up even (the holiest of) their own language?

PS: On top it says "Camp nou". One capital letter gone awol.

  2. Guys, this is not an official poster at club facilities, but a fake from some amateur touroperator or whatever.

We all know what is a tail.

No question about "Camp Nou", this is the real popular name.
