Mary/Mari Thomas 1
Married Name | Thomas, Mary/Mari |
Gramps ID | I0019 |
Gender | female |
Age at Death | 84 years, 9 months, 30 days |
Narrative
AMA NEWTREE speculates that her birth surname was Jones, but the only feasible candidate called Mary is a Thomas, and the wedding date fits the children's births.
Perhaps, given the links between the families, she is a sister of Dafydd Thomas, father of Robert Thomas ("Ap Vychan"). Three reasons why that is unlikely: Ap Vychan would surely have mentioned it in his memoirs; her birthplace is given as Llanuwchllyn in the censuses, whereas the suggestion seems to be that Dafydd Thomas and siblings were born in neighbouring Llangower at the farm of Tŷ'ny-Gwynt; her birthdate is ca 1769, whereas e.g. Dafydd Thomas is 1782 - big gap for siblings.
