Narrative
Births shows two WHTs born in or around 1841, one in Q1 (Ancestry duplicates this one) and one in Q4, both listed Redruth. The former is the son of Richard Tangye and Elizabeth Riches, the latter of William Tangye and Amelia:
WHT, MINER - middle name in 1861
Jan 1841 William Henry Tangye Redruth IX 275
June 6 1841. Illogan: Elizabeth Tangye 20 (estimated down, actually 25ish) Richard 2, William 1 (actually only 5 months, but establishes that this is NOT the October 1841 birth)
March 30 1851 census. Gwennap : Eliza Tangay 35, Richard 12, Willm 10 (Illogan), Eliz A 8, Thomas 4. Correct age.
April 7 1861. Eliza 43 (um), William Hen 21 (Illogan, copper miner, actually only 20), Elizabeth A 19, Thomas 14.
WHT, CARPENTER
Oct 1841 William Henry Tangye Redruth IX 231
June 6 1841 William 20 Carpenter Amelia 20 Amelia 7 monhts Joseph Jeffres 20 tailor Camborne
March 30 1851 William 34, Amelia 33, Amelia Julia, WHT 9 (born after March 30 1841, i.e. prob October)
April 7 1861 ditto more or less, aged 19, so after April 7 1841. Carpenter, like father.
Can't find either in the 1871 census. WHT, miner appears to be the William H Tangey, born England, miner, who dies aged 38 (i.e. Jan 1841 birth) in August 1879 in New Jersey. WHT, carpenter, appears thus to be Jack of various trades who ends up in Northants.
HOWEVER!!!! WHT's marriage to Emily Ann Treloar Davies in 1874 says he is son, not of William, but of John Tangye of Camborne, innkeeper, and that he is a widower. I think this is a mistake by the registrar, or an untruth on WHT's part: John's census records for 1861, 1851 and 1841 are quite multitudinous and confused, but do not mention a son called William (Henry), nor can I find one anywhere else.
