Their current principal source of immoral earnings, apart from editorial-related state subsidy and tax-(ahem-)efficient paid-for journalism, is, of course, brothel advertising. I seem to recall it worked out at around €1M pa, but now most things do. The first ever front page of this then conservative, Catholic newpaper was rich in venereal advertising, so I suppose you could say that things have improved.

The Barcelona MSM is financed from general taxation, but even they, like their freer brethren elsewhere, create some memorable juxtapofuckups. I still love the 19th century editions of the Vanguardia, then catholic and cautious, whose front page tended to be dominated by magical cures for venereal disease.

No, not Catalonia Today the magazine, nor Catalonia Today the Generalitat PR splurge, but the English-language daily to be launched on June 15th. Today a dummy run was enclosed in El Punt, and – barring some linguistic and factual howlers (Carod, the front page informs us, is “deputy president” of Catalonia) – it looks OK.
