Burt Reynolds, the source for George Best’s account of what he did with his money?

Asked later what happened to the money he had earned, Best replied: “I spent a lot of money on booze, birds and fast cars. The rest I just squandered.” Which is more or less what Burt Reynolds/Yaqui Joe Herrera says at 16:40 in 100 Rifles (1969), which I imagine Best would have seen.
